The point of this DVD is cut and dry. Children and Toddlers copy each other. They all want to do what other children do to gain acceptance in to society hence the title, "Copy- Kids". This DVD covers a large spectrum of gener, and race so all children can relate.  Along with a separate  section for parents to learn different
nutritional facts from Dr. Jay Gordon.

Sponsors Recommended Age:  Range: 6 months - 5years

My Recommended Age Range: 12 months -  42 months (or children of special needs up to age 7)

My Child's Reactions:

There were many different children in this video however boo connected with  Cassidy the most. He got so excited when she would come on the different segments. When she left though he would easily loses interest.

He really like that he got to pick different fruits and vegetables himself and was very choosey but happily watched them all without encouragement.

This is an unscripted video so Ethan was talking to the children as they they would talk to him. I laugh because a few children would say "I love _____". Whatever veggie or fruit that was on their plate. Ethan excitedly would say in return, "Well then eat it!" If a child came on eating a fruit or vegetable Ethan was familiar with Ethan would explain, "I love that! Umm, umm, ummm I'm full!"  This  was a great video for him and he really enjoyed it.

My Opinion:

As a parent we all need tools to help are children. I received my Nutrition Certification through Cornell University in 2009. I feel nutrition is a very important part of are children's lives and mostly agree with what Dr. Jay Gordon recommendations are. We have to remember all children are different there for not all children will like the same Fruits and vegetables. However each fruit and vegetable brings a different nutritional value to your child's diet. So you want your child to eat as many vegetables as possible and not just settle on one. The extras with Dr. Jay Gordon does give a lot of great information to parents on dietary environment along with nutritional from birth to adulthood.  The video itself relates strictly to children. The children on the video talk to your child, tell them stories and really relate. However they are toddlers as a parent I thought it was cute but would not want to sit through the entire video with my child (115mins). Thankfully this DVD has 12 segments and they are divided up into shorter 6-8 mins episodes for each fruit and vegetable.

Fruits & Vegetables Covered:
  • Bell Peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Avocado
  • Tomatoes
  • Broccoli
  • Oranges
  • Bananas
  •  Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Apples
  • Blueberries

I am lucky because we do eat fruits and vegetables in  my houses hold for the recommend value daily. However just like any other houses my children are opposite. Logan hates carrots but loves corn. Ethan loves carrots but hates corn. The point being it is important that your child has there recommend value of   fruit and vegetable. This video has many points. However the most important is your child will connect with the characters and start to developing a healthy eating style that will carry them through life with out struggling with obesity. I have to say I much rather have this be part of my video collection then another cartoon that carries no educational base.

Effectiveness:
This video is simple and WILL get your children excited to try new fruits and vegetables. They will also become overly obsessed with this DVD so hide it and bring it out as a tool for both yourself and your child/ren.

Originality:

As a parent we all know who the wiggles are rite. Remember when they came out with the song "Fruit Salad" and "Cold Spaghetti"? I don't know about you but that's all my children wanted for weeks and still both still do accompanied by other food items.

This is like that but you will see your child interacting with the children in this video almost like a video chat. Ethan was having long conversations with each characters in the copy-kids video. This video is unscripted and quirky. It really gives this video a cutting edge that hasn't been explored yet.
